I have worked on multiple projects supporting Indigenous stewardship, co-governance initiatives
(i.e., undertaken by Indigenous Nations with Provincial and/or Federal governments), and community-based marine planning.
The descriptions below provide a sample of the projects I have worked on as consultant or academic.

Átl'ḵa7tsem
Marine Planning Circle
Working with the Átl'ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound Marine Stewardship Initiative, I supported the formation of the Marine Planning Circle (MPC) in 2022, and I currently support the coordination and facilitation of the MPC. The MPC is comprised of technical staff from First Nations, municipalities and regional organizations. It's aim is to provide a space for converstaion and information sharing related to marine planning, foster relationship building and coodination on marine planning initiatives across organizatons, and connect decision-support tools to users and needs.
Maa-nulth Stewardship Network
Engaged by the Maa-nulth Treaty Society (MTS), I created a Maa-nulth Stewardship Network development plan and then served as interim network coordinator while supporting the hiring of a ongoing coordinator. I now support the MTS and the network as a strategic advisor.
I have also worked on projects with individual Maa-nulth Nations, largely supporting the development of monitoring plans and information management systems.
Marine Plan Partnership
A collaborative between 17 First Nations and the Province of British Columbia, The Marine Plan Partnership (MaPP) produced marine spatial plans for areas around North Vancouver Island, Central Coast, North Coast, and Haida Gwaii. I have worked on multiple projects to support implementation of the plans, including developing a monitoring needs assessment, assessing cumulative effects from recreational fishing, developing a kelp monitoring storymap, understanding guardian program opportunities to support monitoring, producing a polluted areas restoration strategy, and developing a data management strategy.
Coastal First Nations
Regional Monitoring System
With the Coastal First Nations - Great Bear Initiative, I conducted an evaluation of their Regional Monitoring System (RMS) and then worked to redevelop the system to better serve the needs of the member First Nations. RMS redevelopment involved understanding the current and desired monitoring activities, creating a scoping framework to refine the activities pursued, and developing monitoring cards to detail how to undertake each activity. I provided details about this multi-year project in a presentation that I gave at the Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference.
